'뉴 웨이브 New Waves'는 충청남도 공주시에 위치한 카페 '공주살롱'에서 운영하는 서비스중 하나이다. 지역의 뮤지션에게 무료로 공연할 장소를 제공해주고, 홍보 포스터를 제작해주며 공연 당일에 촬영하여 유튜브로 기록을 남겨준다. 이 아카이빙의 과정까지가 '뉴 웨이브'의 서비스라고 할 수 있다. 공주살롱은 이 서비스를 통해 지역의 뮤지션을 발굴하고, 음악공연의 문화생활의 메타를 이끌어가기 위해 노력한다. 기존이 서비스는 '점프살롱'이라는 이름으로 수 개월간 유지하고 있었으나 한 번의 공연이 아닌 이 전체 과정을 아울러 표현하기엔 어려운 단어였다. 그래서 이번 2023년 4월호를 시작으로 '뉴 웨이브'라는 이름으로 리브랜딩을 하였으며 뉴 웨이브의 역사적인 첫 호 포스터를 제작하였다. 첫 호의 목표는 서비스의 시작을 알리며, 공연이 끝나더라도 보관하고 싶도록 제작하는 것이다.그래서 종이 양면을 사용하여 앞을 대지를 꽉 채운 그래픽으로, 뒷면을 공연 정보와 뮤지션 소개, 공주살롱 새 소식 전달, 다음호 예고로 마무리한다. 4단접지후 반으로 접어 총 8면의 공간을 활용한다. 이런 한 면은 전단이고 뒷면은 포스터인 형태는 공주시에서 접하기 어려웠으며 신선한 충격을 줄 수 있었다. 그래픽은 강력한 파도의 이미지를 여러 번 가공하여, 각 결과물들을 겹쳐 제작하였다. 접면을 활용해 벽에도 설치할 수 있도록 설계했다.뉴 웨이브 포스터는 매달 새로운 정보들로, 새로운 주제의 포스터로 계속해서 제작할 예정이다. It gives local musicians a free place to perform, makes a promotional poster, films the performance on the day, and leaves a record on YouTube. That archive is part of the service. Through it, Gongju Salon tries to find local musicians and lead the culture of live music. The service had been called Jump Salon for several months, but that name was hard to stretch beyond a single performance to the whole process. Starting with the April 2023 issue, it was rebranded New Waves, and the historic first poster was made. The first issue was meant to announce the start of the service and to be something people would want to keep after the show. Both sides of the paper are used: the front is a graphic that fills the sheet, and the back carries performance information, musician introductions, news from Gongju Salon, and a preview of the next issue. Folded in four and then in half, it uses eight panels. A piece that is a flyer on one side and a poster on the other was rare in Gongju and could feel fresh. The graphic was made by processing a powerful wave several times and layering the results. The folds were designed so it can also be installed on a wall. New Waves posters are planned to continue every month, with new information and a new theme.
